We spend a lot of time in the bedroom, yet this room tends to be overlooked when it comes to decorating. The choice to decorate these days can be down to the cost of the job. Here are a seven tips that can help decorate bedroom on a budget.

1. Change things around. Changing your furniture around will make your room feel like new. Try putting your furniture on an angle, put your bed diagonally across the room, or even in the middle of the room.

2. Check through your drawers for things that might compliment the colour scheme, look for things such as tablecloths, pillowcases or scarves. Any of these items can be used to take the edge of a dresser or a night stand, if you find anything of a suitable size you can use it as a throw over the end of your bed.

3. If you have a couple of spare pillows try putting a different colour pillowcase on them and place them on their side behind your existing pillows up against the head board, this will bring a fresh look to your bed. If you haven’t got throw pillows on your bed now is the time to get some they will dress up your bed. If you haven’t got the correct colour cover you can always wrap them with a square of material in the colour you want.

4. If you have collections of things in your home look through them and see if you can move one of them to your bedroom for a new look. This will help decorate bedroom on a budget.

5. Search out old picture frames and revamp them by giving them a coat of paint and putting something of personal interest in them such as a wedding invitation.

6. Look around your house and garden for a plant that you can move to your bedroom, if you haven’t got a garden try the local park there are lots of places you can get a cutting of a plant. As for the containers you can use anything, look through your cupboards, you are bound to find something you can use, an old teapot, a cup, glass bowl even an old boot will make a unique container.

7. Change the feel of your room by adding a new smell. You can do this with pot pourri or incense, if you don’t have any try cutting and drying some orange peel and mixing it with spices out of your kitchen cupboard, cinnamon and ginger will both work well. Place the open bowl in your bedroom to freshen it up. In the summer you can try cut scented flowers, you can even go picking wild flowers.

These small changes will help to decorate bedroom on a budget and bring you room a whole new look.
